To backup your data, Handy Backup 3.0 needs to create an Item first. Each Item contains the following information about your data:
- Item name - a name under which to backup your data
- Names of original folders and files - necessary to define orignal location of your files and folders to backup
- Storage folder name - necessary to define storage location
- Information about operations with your files - type of action (backup, restore, synchronize), compression, encryption etc.
- Scheduling - when and how often to backup your data
- Advanced features
Note: When you’ve created a Backup Item, the program will create a corresponding index file (e.g. 0000003i.hb) containing names of files included in a Backup Item. Index files are stored in the same folders with Backup Items. They are necessary for performing any restoration and synchronization, so be careful with this files: it is not recommended to modify any of their properties (name, contents) manually.
