- Can I perform backup of different files or folders at a time?
- Yes. In the last v3.0 there can be as many files and folders in an Item as you need.
- Is it possible to backup an open file which is in use by another program?
- Yes, it is possible in the last v3.0.
- Will Handy Backup 3.0 write to my Tape Drive?
- Currently Handy Backup 3.0 does NOT support Tape Drives, although most other devices are supported.
- Whenever I do a backup, Handy Backup 3.0 always creates the backup from scratch. Does Handy Backup 3.0 perform incremental operations?
- Yes. Handy Backup 3.0 performs incremental backup operations. Moreover, the program performs full backup only when you backup your data for the first time. Once your backup archive is created, the program will perform only incremental backup operation. This means that only the files that have changed since your last backup will be updated in your backup archive.
- When Handy Backup 3.0 is performing a backup on a backup archive that already exists (I have the backup set to only refresh existing files and add new files) it seems to take a long time preprocessing files. Why is this?
- Note that when a large backup is being updated, the folders and files to be backed up need to be preprocessed, then the existing archive needs to be read to compare the old files with the new ones. This can take some time on large backups when performing an incremental backup operation.
- Does Handy Backup software backup to CD RW discs?
- Yes, you can backup to CDRW in case you use 3-rd party programs like DirectCD or built-in Windows XP utility (i.e. if you can copy files from hard disk to CDRW using Windows Explorer). In the next release the full support of backup to CD RW will be included.
- This program appears to be unusable unless the computer is connected to the Internet. Is that correct?
- No. You don't need to be connected to the Internet, unless you want to keep your data on a distant FTP-server.
