Handy Backup 3.9 Help : How To Operate With Data
Backup Data : Compression and Encryption
You can compress your data and/or encrypt it using the highly secure blowfish method.
Choose Compression Type:
- No compression: All files will be backed up "as is", i.e., without compression.
- ZIP compression (single file): Compresses your files before copying into single ZIP archive.
When you use compression into a single zip file during backup onto several CDs (i.e. when you use disc spanning), archive names will remain unique. For instance, archive name having the look MUSIC.zip, will have the look MUSIC(XXXX).zip, where X is a hexadecimal digit and XXXX is span number for this backup.
- ZIP compression (multiple files): Compresses your files before copying into multiple ZIP archives, i.e. every file will be compressed separately.
ZIP archive name:
You can edit the default name for your ZIP archive (if you chose compression into a single ZIP file).
Compression quality:
Choose compression quality for your data. The higher compression quality is, the more your data is compressed. However, note that the high compression quality increases time required for compression.
Note: Handy Backup 3.9 has the following limitation on data size for ZIP compression: the whole ZIP archive size can not exceed 2Gb. The size of every file in the archive also can not exceed 2Gb.
