Installation Instruction for ASPI Driver

To make the installation process easier and more convenient, rather than include the ASPI driver, we provide our users with a direct link to the corresponding page of the Adaptec site and detailed installation instructions. Please follow the steps listed below to install it on your system:

  1. Click the following link to download the ASPI Driver.

    http://download.adaptec.com/software_pc/
    aspi/aspi_v471.exe

  2. Run the downloaded file aspi_v471.exe on your system.

You will see the following dialog box:

Select the folder where you want to extract the files to (c:\adaptec\aspi in this example) and press the Unzip button.

  3. Unpack the aspi471.ZIP (it will appear after the previous step).

The following files will be available after you have unzipped aspi471.zip:

  4. If you use Windows 98, NT 4.0, Me or 2000:

Run ASPIINST.EXE file to install the ASPI layer -

When the installation has finished, reboot the system in order to enable the ASPI driver.

  5. If you use Windows XP:

Select Start then Run from the start menu, and then the Browse button.

Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory where the files were extracted to, then select the OPEN button and add XP32 to the command line in the dialog box.

    It should look as follows:

    Note:

If you use Itanium processors, you should enter XP64 instead of XP32.

The command will therefore read as follows: c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP64. Then select the OK button to run the XP installer. When the installation is finished, reboot the system to enable the ASPI driver.
